EUROPEAN BISON: AN ODYSSEY
The European bison reigned across its continental turf for hundreds of thousands of years. Some of them are still living in Poland's Bialowieza, the last primeval forest in the whole of Europe. Almost 3,000 individuals inhabit this unique ecosystem but they're running out of room. In this documentary, produced by Cocotte Minutes Productions (1x52') and to be aired on France 5, we follow them until the age of two, at which point they head off on a journey to Romania.
EARTH, A LIVING BODY
Planet Earth is commonly defined as the addition of a multitude of environments and ecosystems. This film, produced by Mona Lisa Productions (1x90') and to be aired on France 5, shows it from a totally original angle – as a giant living body capable of regulating itself in order to maintain a balance at all times. By linking the microscopic and the cosmos, this journey reveals the world of living things from multiple dimensions and takes us on an exploration of unsuspected mechanisms that help keep that balance in place.
THE WOMEN OF NAZI GERMANY
The Nazi regime ended up being a paradox for most German women: formerly confined to a traditional matriarchal role, they experienced temporary social emancipation after being entrusted with some very untraditional responsibilities. Some of them were honorable (standing in for the men who had left for the Front), some horrific (participating in the Third Reich’s crimes).
Divided into two parts (2x52'), the film, produced by Injam Production, first shows how women’s place in society changed from the late 1920s to the Nazis’ rise to power, reducing women to the status of “child-bearers” from 1933 to 1939. Then, in the second episode (titled “Women at War”) we see how, from 1939 to 1945, the pressure of war influenced women’s role in German society and in the framework of the "care policy,” especially in the eastern colonies.
