Acquisition of three new documentaries
France tv distribution is happy to announce the acquisition of three new documentaries: Apocalypse: D-Day, De-extinction: a new hope for biodiversity? and The Andaman Elephant Enigma.
Thess factuals, which are distributed internationally by France tv distribution, will be launched during The Sunny Side Of The Doc, which will take place from June 19 through 22, 2023.
Apocalypse : D-Day
June 6th, 1944. A titanic fleet take on the beaches of Normandy. Their goal: liberating Europe from Hitler's yoke.
Thanks to the lessons learned from the Dieppe raid of August 42, and supported by the Provence landing of August 44, the mission is a spectacular success: the Second World War Allies succeeded in moving beyond their political differences, overcoming logistical difficulties and carrying out an operation with unprecedented military stakes.
How, before and after D-Day, did the authorities, soldiers and civilians experienced this turning point in history?

De-extinction: a new hope for biodiversity?
Despite unprecedented conservation efforts, Sudan, the last male northern white rhino, died out in Kenya in 2018. He is the symbol of a major crisis: the sixth mass extinction.
Every year, animal and plant species disappear forever, making biodiversity ever more fragile. But thanks to advances in genetic engineering and biotechnology, scientists are dreaming of reviving what was thought to be lost forever. Research programs are springing up all over the world. What if de-extinction was a new hope?
Original Title: Dé-extinction, un nouvel espoir ?. Genre: Science & Technology. Format: 52'. Written by: Thomas Marie & Gaétan Mourral. Directed by: Thomas Marie. Producer: France tv studio. French Broadcaster: Ushuaïa TV.
The Andaman Elephant Enigma
In the remote islands of the Andaman Sea, on the edge of the Indian Ocean, the Asian elephant has found a refuge, far from the continent where its species is threatened. However, when the islands were discovered, the elephants were absent. How did they reappear? By swimming from island to island as long been believed? Were they present on these lands during the Ice Age? This documentary reveals the enigma of the Andaman elephants, as a unique episode in the history of the Asian elephant.
Original Title: L'énigme des éléphants d'Andaman. Genre: Nature & Wildlife. Format: 52'. Written by: Prajna Chowta & Philippe Gautier. Directed by: Philippe Gautier. Producer: Les Films d’Ici. Broadcasters: BR/Arte Geie, Planète+, RTBF.
