Sale of the series The Huguenots to Max (France) and HBO Max (Belgium)

France tv distribution is delighted to announce the sale of the series The Huguenots (original title: Fortune de France), produced by Les Films du Cap and Together Media to Max (France) and to HBO Max (Belgium).

Based on the book by Robert Merle, this high end production, directed by Christopher Thompson and starring Nicolas Duvauchelle (Dark Hearts, Black Butterflies, Lost Bullet, Poliss) is in competition in the “52-minute French series” category at the Festival de la Fiction, which runs from September 10 to 15, 2024 in La Rochelle. Festival-goers will have the pleasure of previewing the series on Friday September 13 at 2:30pm.

The series will be broadcast in France from September 16 on France 2 and soon on Max (France) and HBO Max (Belgium).

Synopsis

France, 1557. At Mespech Castle, the harmony between masters and servants is about to be broken by religious wars.

Having embraced the new Protestant movement, Jean de Siorac, a well-respected humanist knight and head of his family, has no choice but to resort to violence to defend his community. His wife Isabelle, a fervent Catholic, is struggling to exist in a world ruled by men. Their sons, Pierre and François, are thrown into adulthood, torn asunder, just like their religiously divided country.

Forced to contend with their adversaries, the Sioracs must remain close as they strive to overcome their differences and defend their ideal of tolerance.
