France tv distribution is proud to announce it has sold its "Laetitia" show the North American rights of the mini series to HBO, where it will air on its linear channels and be available to stream on HBO Max.
Laetitia - the first French series ever to be selected for the Sundace Film Festival, produced by CPB Films and L'Ile Clavel, in co-production with France Télévisions - tells the tragic story of Laetitia that shook France in 2011. Based on the best-selling book by Ivan Jablonka Laëtitia, ou la fin des hommes (Laetitia or the end of men - published by Editions du Seuil 2016), this true to life series already captured French audiences when it aired on France 2 this fall. It is now being exported in North America to be broadcasted on HBO, the world's most successful pay TV service renowned for its prestigious slate that including The Wire, The Sopranos, Veep, Euphoria, Sex and the City and Games of Thrones. Laetitia will be launched on HBO and available to stream on HBO's direct-to-consumer streaming platform, HBO Max on August 30th.
Michelle Palant, International Sales Manager in charge of the United States:
"It's an honor to have been chosen by the prestigious HBO channel to air our French series Laetitia in North America."
Julia Schulte, SVP International Sales for France tv distribution:
"We're very proud that the Laetitia series, inspired by a true story that sent a shockwave through France's public opinion and political arena, has been exported to the United States. Especially when the network in questions is HBO, world-renowned for its high quality and highly successful original series. French fiction is renewing itself, standing out from the crowd. This sale is proof that original French series definitely have a place on the international market."
Eighteen year old Laetitia has disappeared. Her overturned scooter was found early in the morning, just in front of her house. Very quickly the police investigations will reconstruct the young girl’s last hours, leading to the arrest of Tony Meilhon. But while they are certain that they have identified her killer, the investigators still can’t find the body. This story will follow the repercussions on Laetitia’s family,
above all on her twin sister Jessica, but also on the working of the police force, the social services, and the judicial system and even on the Government.
Based on true events.
