January 30th, 2021. The history of Eurovision continues... Barbara Pravi wins the first edition of Eurovision France, you decide and becomes our French representative 2021.
A dazzling and inspiring artist, who will make the French language shine with beauty and intensity all over Europe with her song "Voilà"!
Two months before, on November 29, 2020, France had won the Junior Eurovision thanks to Valentina, and it was Barbara Pravi who had signed the song of the victory: J'imagine. How beautiful is the story!
The Junior Eurovision 2021 will be organized in France this year. I will reveal you the stages in the next weeks.
The French delegation is more proud than ever to write these pages with you all!
2020 has been a difficult year for the world and Eurovision has not been spared. A historic year marked by the cancellation of the contest. 2021 will mark the return of the world's most iconic entertainment, the Eurovision Song Contest. What an incredible job the Dutch production and the EBU have done to ensure that the event can take place under normal conditions for all European viewers. We are looking forward to living with intensity all these unique moments of sharing and music.
The France Télévisions Group, Delphine Ernotte Cunci, Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez and our management are more than ever committed and mobilized around the Eurovision brands in this year 2021. At the end of January, we launched the creation of Eurovision France, you decide who will represent France at the Olympic Song Contest. This first season was a great success with nearly 3 million viewers at the time of Barbara's victory. The short programs presenting the songs broadcast at 8:40 p.m. even gathered nearly 3.5 million viewers every night! I think a lot of all these magnificent artists, all of them talented, and I thank them once again for their participation. We will continue to follow them closely at France Télévisions. It's the Eurovision family!
We are now approaching the last straight line for Rotterdam. We are all here to support Barbara on May 22!
It is with an unfailing ambition and determination that we are going to live together an intense Eurovision week on our channels next May. It will start with various short programs La minute Eurovision on Monday, May 10, before the semi-finals of the contest which will be broadcast on Culturebox on Tuesday, May 18 and Thursday, May 20, during which twenty countries will qualify for the grand final, joining the Big Five countries and the Netherlands. The moment we are all waiting for will start at 9 pm on Saturday, May 22, the final of the 65th Eurovision contest commented by the chic and shocking duo that made us live with passion Eurovision France: it's you who decide: Laurence Boccolini and Stéphane Bern.
All of our stations will be mobilized in the colors of Eurovision, including a documentary-event about Barbara Pravi directed by Gianluca Materrese, filmed behind the scenes of her preparation for Eurovision.
A unique device will be deployed on the digital with two of our partners: for the first time, a partnership TikTok and Spotify accompanies us since the first day of Eurovision France. An exceptional and international mobilization of our partners. And a big thank you also to Télé 7 Jours who has been following us for many years. Finally, a big thank you to the teams of Universal Music France and the Capitol label with whom we work hand in hand.
In a few weeks, we will be in Rotterdam. We are ready, enthusiastic, so proud and determined to bring Barbara's talent in front of 200 million viewers.
And you, the public, Eurofans and journalists, have an essential role! It is all together that we will bring Barbara to victory. Your energy, your support, your encouragement every day are precious stones for Barbara. Let's continue to write this incredible story together, let's continue to dream.
VOILA ! Let's go ! See you in Rotterdam!
